I started this idea with a series of ink paintings called βThe Google Seriesβ and took the next step to include colour. The random element which was the search engine has become my own eye as it searches through reality by means of my smartphone camera. Smartphone because it allows me to take pictures that seem completely random.
I am on the underground train. Now I am in a busy fashion clothes shop. Another time, I am in the open-air market. All is composed on the page like a graphic novel. Except, instead of a story with text there is a singular graphic element which is spread over a part of the page.
Itβs not like painting outdoors but this painting sets a bridge between my recent graphic work and a new exploration of pictorial means. There is colour, there are images and there is a story. The story of my simple life in Rome.
