I have been painting in no man’s land. There are parts of Rome that haven’t been developed and are somewhere between a natural reserve and a garbage dump. These lands have little or no buildings and are usually surrounded by old fences which have been broken and serve little to keep people from trespassing. In such a place, makeshift builders have an easy access to nightly dumping grounds for their waste.
However, neighboring developments have caused these areas to be looked at as eventual treasure grounds for future apartment complexes. Walking paths have been created by nearby residents who look for outlets to jog or take a Sunday walk. Someone cleans up the trash dumps and a temporary park is improvised.
I doubt that these areas will remain untouched for long. The development around Rome is pausing a little because of the financial crisis but will continue to transform green areas into cement.
Nevermind. For me, these places present a wonderful haven away from the roaring traffic of the more developed areas. Painting in silence, especially in the early morning hours, allows me to witness the awakening nature of the rising sun.

Belli!Quei luoghi che descrivi mi hanno sempre affascinato e sei riuscito a rendere molto bene l’atmosfera che li impregna, specilamente al mattino e alla sera.
