There is a limit to everything. I may have reached the limit of tolerance that I have for parking in the centre of the city. This realization has lead me to consider using the bicycle to reach the place where I want to paint. At least in the centre. In any case, I’m fed up with being the victim of a relentless attack on parked vehicles by the Police force.
Just a few years ago, it was a rare event indeed to find a parking ticket on the window of even the boldest of parking violation perpetrators. Now that the city has understood that a considerable sum of money can be gained by issuing parking tickets, there is no stopping their thirst for blood.
The first action consisted in sealing off the centre from outside traffic by creating photographically-monitored passageways where incoming automobilists are at the mercy of ever-changing entry times. Then the Police organized themselves with outsourcing tow-truck companies that can take away an entire street of cars in questionable zones. Now they have equipped themselves with a mobile unit of wheel clamp-setters equipped with wireless debit-card readers for quick payment.
It may be a little more difficult for me to ride my bike into the centre. Certainly the paint-box is quite heavy and unwieldy on the rear rack of the bicycle but I will be the better for two reasons. One for the added exercise I will get. Two for the savings of parking tickets that I will avoid. My only worry is that I may not find the bicycle at all after a painting session.
